ABU Begins Application For Admission Into 2014/2015 Institute Of Administration Full-Time Diploma Programmes

Applications are hereby invited from qualified candidates for admission into the full-time Diploma (Sub- degree) programmes offered by the Institute of Administration, Ahmadu Bello University for the 2014/2015 academic session.

The following full-time Diploma programmes are offered:

1.         Diploma in Accounting

2.         Diploma in Banking

3.         Diploma in Islamic Banking and Finance

4.         Diploma in Insurance

5.         Diploma in Management
6.         Diploma in Law
7.         Diploma in Sharia and Civil Law

8.         Diploma in Local Government

9.         Higher Diploma in Local Government

10.       Diploma in Public Administration

11.       Advanced Diploma in Public Administration

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
All applicants are to read the general entry requirements to determine the duration and entry qualifications for the various programmes before they begin the process for the purchase and completion of the form.

METHOD OF APPLICATION
The entry form for the Institute of Administration full-time Diploma programmes would be available on-line from Monday 29th September to Wednesday 31stDecember, 2014.

The procedure for the application is as below:

i) Applicants are advised to visit the Ahmadu Bello University harmonized portal at: portal.abu.edu.ng/other forms to commence the process for the purchase of the relevant form.

ii) Before they begin the process for the purchase of the relevant form, applicants are advised to please take a few minutes to read the general guidelines on how to fill the form and check the general entry requirements to determine that they are legible for admission into the programme of their choice.

iii) Upon going through the guidelines and entry requirements, applicants are to click on the “start application” buttonon the portal to create an account through which they will generate a Transaction ID.

iv) Applicants are to utilize the generated transaction ID to pay for the form at any branch of the designated banks nation-wide.

The cost of the form which is inclusive of bank charges is N2,800 only.

Please note that candidates are to complete the forms themselves and not by proxy. The Institute shall not entertain any complain on wrong completion of the form by proxies.

Duration and Entry Requirements for Diploma programmes

1.       DIPLOMA IN ACCOUNTING

(a)     Duration————————————Two years.

(b)   Entry Qualifications————————Five (5) o/levelcredits to include Mathematics, English Language and Economics.

2.       DIPLOMA IN BANKING

(a)     Duration—————————————-Two years.

(b)     Entry Qualifications——————–Five (5) o/level credits to include Mathematics, English Language and Economics.

3)      DIPLOMA IN ISLAMIC BANKING AND FINANCE

(a)     Duration————————————–Two years.

(b)     Entry Qualifications——————–Five (5)o/level credits to include Mathematics, English Language and Economics.

3.       DIPLOMA IN INSURANCE

(a)     Duration                                  -Two years.
(b)     Entry Qualifications                -Five (5)o/level credits to include English Language, Mathematics and Economics.

4.       DIPLOMA IN MANAGEMENT
(a)     Duration                                  -Two years.
(b)     Entry Qualification                  -Five (5)o/level credits to include English Language, Economics and Mathematics

5.       DIPLOMA IN LAW
(a)     Duration                                  -Two years.

(b)     Entry Qualifications                -Five (5) o/level credits to include English Language.

6.       DIPLOMA IN SHARIA AND CIVIL LAW

(a)     Duration                                  -Two years.

(b)     Entry Qualifications                -Five (5) o/level credits to include English Language and Islamic religious Studies or Arabic.

7.       DIPLOMA IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT

(a)     Duration                                  -Two years.

(b)     Entry Qualifications                -A minimum of four (4) o/level credits to include English Language.

8.       HIGHER DIPLOMA IN LOCAL GOVERNMENT

(a)     Duration                                  -Two years.

(b)     Entry Qualifications      –        1.Diploma in any of the following fields, with a minimum of a MERIT grade from any recognized University or Polytechnic: (2 years Diploma.)
(i)      Local Government
(ii)     Public Administration
(iii)    Accounting
(iv)    Public Accounting & Auditing
(v)     Adult Education & Community Development
(vi)    Social Welfare Administration
(vii)   Law

2        NCE with a minimum of 3 years working experience in the Local Government Service.

3.       Diploma in Local Government with a PASS grade but having a minimum of 5 years working experience in the Local Government Service.

9.       DIPLOMA IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION
(a)     Duration                                  -Two years.

(b)     Entry Qualifications                -A minimum of five (5) o/level credits to include English Language, Economics and Government/History.

10.     ADVANCED DIPLOMA IN PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION

Advanced Diploma in Public Administration One (1)
(a)    Duration                                  -Two years (Part-time).

(b)      Entry Qualifications

Diploma in any of the following fields with a minimum of a MERIT grade from any recognized University or Polytechnic (2 years Diploma):

Public Administration

Local Government

Personnel Management/Human Resources Management/Social Welfare Administration and Secretarial Studies

Accounting/Banking/Insurance/Management from Institute of Administration, ABU, Zaria.

Nursing/Midwifery/Community Health extension Workers (CHEW) & Community Health Officers (CHO) with a minimum of 5 years working experience in the public service.

Nursing/Midwifery/Community Health extension Workers (CHEW) & Community Health Officers (CHO) with a minimum of 5 years working experience in the public service.

Diploma in Public Administration/Local Government from Institute of Administration, ABU Zaria with a PASS grade but having a minimum of 3 years working experience in the public service.

All candidates into ADPA must possess five (5) o/level credits to include English Language.

Advanced Diploma in Public Administration Two (2)

(a)     Duration                                  -One year (Part-time).

(b)      Entry Qualifications

Higher National Diploma and Advanced Diploma in any of the following fields, with a minimum of a LOWER/MERIT grade from any recognized institution of higher learning in:

Public Administration

Local Government

Personnel Management/Human Resources Management/Social Welfare Administration and Secretarial Studies

Holders of Advanced Diploma in Public Administration/Higher Diploma in Local Government from Institute of Administration, ABU, Zaria with a PASS grade.

In addition, candidates must possess five (5) o/level credits to include English Language.
